by editor

As posted on the city's government website:
The City of Mountain Park has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 24.46%. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the City of Mountain Park Community Building at 100 Lakeshore Drive, Mountain Park, GA 30075 on August 20, 2014, at 7:00 PM. Additional meetings will be held at the City of Mountain Park Community Building. The dates and times of these additional hearings are August 13, 2014 at 10 AM; and on August 13, 2014 at 7PM.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 13.33 mills, an increase of 2.62 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 10.71 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $193.80 and the proposed tax increase for nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $204.00.
